Salty Dog:: Living on Vacation Time

posted on: Friday, November 30, 2012

Now that the week has finally come to a close, I can't believe Thanksgiving has already come and gone!  Even though I've been productive, part of me is still living on vacation time.
When our family spent the week at the beach it was such a joy to wake up
with out having to make a to-do list for the day...oh the joys of the holidays.

As a girl raised in the south, and an avid beach goer at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina,
I've grown up seeing the Salty Dog t-shirt.  I love the originality of the logo and how
EVERYONE that lives in the south isn't a southerner without a salty dog tee.
Today since I'm reminiscing vacation time my Salty Dog sweatshirt was the coziest option.
Has anyone else been to the Salty Dog Cafe for a t-shirt and lunch?? It's worth a trip!

Hope everyone has fun weekend plans ahead!
This Saturday UGA is headed to the SEC Championship...Go DAWGS, I'll be cheering for ya in Athens!

Shades of Blue:: The Rainy Day Wardrobe

posted on: Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Hey everybody! Pardon me for my week long vacation... I may have enjoyed being
in my pajama's all week for Thanksgiving, shhhh don't tell anybody :)

This week school starts back with a vengeance bringing finals, papers and presentations.  On top of that Athens welcomed back all the students with rain and clouds.  The crisp air certainly wakes you up when you step outside! I hope everyone had wonderful Thanksgivings with lots of family time, too much food, and beautiful weather. I can't believe it's already come and gone!

Remember the shocking book Fifty Shades of Grey from this summer??
Well today I'm channeling fifty shades of blue with navy, mints and light blues.
Take a chance this fall and winter by pairing multiple shades, it gives you a fresh take on your wardrobe.

Have a wonderful night, and thanks for stopping by!

Lady Grey:: Week in Carolina

posted on: Sunday, November 18, 2012

For Thanksgiving each year our family heads to South Carolina for a week of relaxing on the beach, there's been plenty of relaxing...but not much of it on the actual beach, it's a little chilly!!

Today we've been enjoying a little wind and rain, but it's been nice to get away from all the action of a school day. As a family ritual, each Thanksgiving week we're here, we tackle a puzzle....usually about a thousand pieces. So today we're starting that project, over a glass of apple cider, and a movie in the background. It's lovely to just relax, and enjoy the simple things.

Blending in with the colors of the day, I incorporated grey...lots of grey with some bold fall colors:
emerald green and oxblood purple. And P. S. Fashion Advice for fall, don't be afraid to show your socks :) Whether colorful or plain, sometimes they're just a nice pop to an outfit!

Floating On Air:: A Love Story and a Hat

posted on: Wednesday, November 14, 2012

The cool weather has finally shown up in Athens, and hopefully it is here to stay!
I think it's the first time I've ever said this...but I'm excited for chilly weather,
chunky sweaters, and the excuse to drink as much hot cocoa as I want :)

This past Monday was a special day for my boyfriend and I. We have officially been together for a year, starting from the day he said, "You wanna be my girlfriend?"...and I said "Yes :)" It's been a wonderful year, in fact it doesn't even feel like a year, but it's been perfect, and I hope we have another year together even more wonderful than the first!! Moving on past the gushy stuff, all in all we had a wonderful night dining at Last Resort, and he gave me my new favorite hat, which I had the joy of wearing today!
I felt Parisian, and straight out of the 20's! I finished off my eclectic look with
a lovely cardigan embodying the stylish oxblood color for fall.

I hope your day was beautiful, thanks so much for stopping by

xo,

3 Ways to Wear:: Your favorite White V-Neck

posted on: Saturday, November 10, 2012

Happy Saturday everyone!

Today I am happy to share with you all my first "3 Ways to Wear" post! Everyone has those basic gems in their closet, and so today I'm hoping to inspire you to incorporate this Fall's trends in with your favorite basics!

The topic of today: Your favorite White V-Neck. I know this almost seems too simple... but that's because it really is! A white v-neck, or a white shirt of any kind, serves as a blank slate for your wardrobe and gives the wearer flexibility within their closet to pair and mix and match. My favorite white v-neck is my super-soft, all cotton shirt from Pink by Victoria's Secret.
I've worn it to sleep, to exercise, for date nights, and to class...the sky's the limit!

The first look is for a Day on Campus, the middle look is for a Sunday Brunch,
and the final look is for Dinner and a Movie Date.

All of the styles are so different and yet they are all styled around a basic V.

Now tell me your favorite way to wear your white V-Neck,
do you style it from day to night? What brand is your favorite?

Check out more pictures and outfit details below!

Friday's Feast

posted on: Friday, November 2, 2012

We all have so many things to be thankful for, and the month of November reminds us of that every year.
No matter what's happening we usually have at least one thing to cherish every day.
Today I'm thankful for the cute Little Gobblers I made :)

I mean seriously! How stinking cute is that!!
One thing that always cheers me up is a bit of baking or a fun new recipe, so why not whip up a cute Little Gobbler in honor of November??

For these lil' guys you'll need:
Nutter Butters
Chocolate Wafers
Candy Corn
M & M Minis
White Cookie Icing
Reese's

I altered this idea for a college budget...and also because I didn't want too much candy laying around for me to be tempted to nibble later! For the feet, nose, and mouth you could use jelly beans however I chose to just utilize the different colors of M & M's and that worked well!

Step 1:
Take a Reese's and "glue" it to a Chocolate Wafer with your icing.
Make sure that you make the bottoms even with one another (they will be standing on their edges soon)

Step 2:
Take your icing and spread a thick layer on top of the Reese's

Then take your Candy Corns (~5) and make your Little Gobblers tail of feathers
The icing will serve as a "glue" for them to stand straight

Step 3:
Put a layer of icing on your Reese's and "glue" a Nutter Butter onto the tail.

Step 4:
Taking your icing create a "T" as a base for the face on the Nutter Butter
This will serve as the glue for the M & M eyes, nose, and gobbler

Add brown M & M's for eyes,
one yellow M & M cut in half for the nose
and two red M & M's for the gobbler

Step 5:
Taking another Chocolate Wafer, put a generous dollop of icing on top.
This is going to be the stand for your Gobbler.

Step 6:
The final step is to add the little feet! Take two of your orange M & M's
and stick them into the icing on the base of the Gobbler.
Make as many Gobbler's as you want and serve them up at a party, party favors, or for a Thanksgiving treat....or just because you want to make them!

Have a blessed day!
