3 ways to wear:: your favorite oversized tee

posted on: Friday, October 25, 2013

in honor of fall i have gone out to find the perfect oversized, long sleeved tee. you know the kind that you want to live in, and it gets to the point where on your days off friends are wondering if you own anything else?? that perfect top is so wonderful to have that i wanted to share 3 different ways you can spice it up, or cool it down.

the weekend is finally here so you decide to go out with the girls for::
A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

this look is fresh and fun for a night out on the the town. the pairing of white pants adds a bright contrast during the fall, brightening an otherwise dark ensemble. I'm so glad there's no longer a rule about no white after labor day.
go ahead a glow in that strobe light, and dance the night away!

after dancing the night away, it's time to head to buttermilk kitchen for::
SATURDAY BRUNCH

with the weather just getting cooler, i tend to enjoy staying in my coziest and softest pieces. having had these jeans for years they are my go-to comfy day jeans. the luxurious jacket adds a sophisticated pairing, and when belted it looks more like a blazer. when i wear it open, it makes for a sweater-like apperance. when it gets a little colder, pair the tops pieces with a pair of skinnie jeans and boots!

the long weekend is finally over so it's time to head back to the office for::
MANIC MONDAY

we all know that friday is always celebrated to only be brought back down to reality by monday. i left this pallet more neutral, and incorporated warm fall tones to bring into the office. i love how the draping of the shirt is still a sophisticated look for office wear, the top could also look great with a pair of black slacks, and longer draping necklaces.

hi friends!
so sorry about the delay to the start of my week with blogging! i had such a wonderful weekend with darling friends who came to visit, along with my dashing boyfriend. we spent the weekend out dancing, eating, and being merry…
it was perfect, and i’m still slightly on my weekend high of happiness.
today fall is truly in the air with crisp wind rushing around along with rustle of the leaves.
i love how the leaves turn into my photo props during the fall :)
today my key casual pieces were highlighted by my new red lip love, Beso by Stila…
i don’t think i’ve ever had a more perfect red!
i hope your wednesdays were wonderful, thanks so much for stopping by!

DIY to try:: Nesting Project 2

posted on: Friday, October 18, 2013

with my move to atlanta i have been trying to think of economical ways to continue to use what i have but make it into decor that fits what i imagine my apartment to look like... i'm calling this constant need to refresh, and reinvent the space i have: "nesting." i know that slowly, but surely i'll whip this little space into shape. on a day off i decided to go ahead and hang frames where i want them to go... i left the pictures in their frame which resulted in a few lopsided pics, and a few frames that were in dire need of some TLC.

pretty pathetic looking right?? the frames were purchased ages ago from walmart or target,
and so i decided to give them a refresh by adding a coat of spray paint. for this project i used::
old frames
silver and gold spray paint
painters tape
painters sheet

1. disassemble the frames, keeping glass away from the spray paint area. (we don't want any pesky residue on the glass!)

2. lay frames on a plastic painters sheet, hold spray paint about 1-2 feet away and spray until there is a thin layer of paint on the frames.

3. allow this to dry approximately 15 minutes then go and spray another thin layer.

4. allow paint to dry overnight

5. continue this same process the next day, and paint the other side! again, allow to dry overnight.

6. the next morning reassemble the frames and voila! you have 4 old frames that look brand spankin' new!
(this was the point i decided i didn't like the gold and went back to paint the other frames silver...this is also the point where i went back and spray painted the inner lining of the thicker framed frame, que painters tape.)

all in all i made this project take entirely too long... and then it took even longer because i bought this cute new thing from etsy to incorporate as the center piece, and then new pictures that i had to wait to get developed... but i'm happy with it now, and here is my final result::

a little moment on my night stand with my white pumpkins :))
have a great weekend! and i hope you try your own DIY

one thing that i'm loving about the transitions this year is that spring colors are carrying over beautifully into fall!
designers are trading in the darker shades for lighter pastel tones that add a wintery glow.
today i wore some of my spring staples and layered them up for a fall feel.
how do you like to transition your wardrobe into fall??
are there any subjects you'd like me to do a feature on? I'd love to help out and share some ideas with you!

Who came to visit::

posted on: Sunday, October 13, 2013

being a young adult trying to make it on her own, i must admit a visit from my mom is still probably one of the best feelings in the world. but, a visit from my mom, AND a visit from my wonderful aunt rachel is a double whammy that makes me so happy i'm finding the right words to type to describe it (i've been sitting here for five minutes staring at the screen)
when my mom first arrived at my store, i felt my heart skip a beat from joy as i heard her familiar foot steps behind me. and when i saw my aunt rachel when she first arrived at the pumpkin patch, she was wearing the same croc sandals that her feet love so dearly, i think she was wearing them last time i saw her! it's such a simple joy to see people who you've grown up loving.

Saturday began doing the simplest of fall past times, hopping in the car for an afternoon full of pumpkin picking. burts pumpkin patch had the most vibrant shades of orange i'd ever seen and there was row after row of pumpkins; small pumpkins, white pumpkins, green pumpkins, and pumpkins that looked like a science project gone wrong.... the air smelled liked cinnamon mixed with funnel cakes, and the yard was full of children running round with powdered sugar rimmed around their lips. dozens of moms had pulled out all the stops dressing their children for pictures sure to go on fall cards to friends and family, and there was this fresh feel in the air that made me feel excited yet cozy in my favorite jeans and soft t-shirt. my mom, aunt rachel and i filled our wheelbarrow with our fall loot and then headed toward springer mountain to spend the rest of our afternoon hiking.

pumpkin fields forever...

my mom with her new prized pumpkin!

it's always been a dream of my mothers to one day complete hiking the appalachian trail. this dream was brought to fruition this weekend as we started the hike to the trailhead, beginning at springer mountain. unfortunately the hike to the beginning of the trail was longer than we anticipated soooo we're just going to say that we started the pre-hike for hiking the appalachian trail. i hope we one day finish it, what an accomplishment that would be?? we were planning and scheming on ways to complete it during the pre-hike...hopefully we'll be planning a trip in the spring to officially begin?? i'll try and keep being a fashionista even while hiking....if that's possible?? i'll keep you posted!

2,108.5 miles to go...maine or bust!

 the leaves are slowly changing

thank you all again for reading and you're support, it's such a joy to share with you!

transitions

posted on: Monday, October 7, 2013

as we begin another week the weather becomes even cooler allowing us to unearth some sweaters, boots, and light jackets as we prepare for the cooler months ahead. part of me is still holding on to those summer months though... so i decided to pair my beloved maxi with a denim short sleeve top. this pairing is extremely comfortable yet the colors are fall transfer worthy and the boots add a flair for cooler weather on its way.

i hope everyone had wonderful starts to their week; i certainly did! today was actually my day off from the work week so i managed to lay around in my pjs most of the day so i'm covering up my laziness with pics taken a few days ago :) today i enjoyed a movie marathon and some quality cuddle time with Cat... don't judge me!

happy monday! xo,
